The CEVA Junior Girls’ Committee has voted to implement several changes for Power League and Regionals in the 2022-2023 season.  Some of these changes were announced previously.  They will help streamline operations, lead to shorter days, and make for a more positive experience for all participants.

Cut-off Times
At all Power League tournaments, matches that will start one hour or more after the last scheduled match in a bracket will automatically default to 1-to-25.  This standardizes the various cut-off times that were in place previously and will lead to shorter tournament days.

12s Step-In Rule
The step-in rule for 12s has been modified to state that a server must start behind the end line.  Previous language said the server may start “on or behind” the end line, which led to confusion and misinterpretation of the rule.  The new language clarifies and simplifies the rule.

Physical Hard-Copy Rosters
All teams must present a physical, hard-copy printed roster to their tournament directors or officials prior to each tournament.  Digital rosters will be prohibited.  This streamlines the roster verification process and eliminates the need for coaches to e-mail digital rosters to our office.

Regionals Format
“True” double-elimination formats have been eliminated in all divisions except Open.  All teams will play in a two-match guarantee bracket on the second day of Regionals except the top eight teams in the Open Division – those eight teams will play a true double-elimination bracket.

Open & Platinum
The Open Division of Power League
has been added and Platinum League has been eliminated.
